Kristal Verhulst at the National Ice Core Laboratory (NICL) in Denver, Colorado. She was there sampling Antarctic ice cores from several sites for trace gas analysis. The photo included above was taken at NICL in 2009. In this picture Kristal is holding an ice core from Byrd Station, Antarctica, which was originally collected in 1968! |

This tower now holds an eddy covariance system that Ed Read built. He designed and built this 450-foot floating boardwalk and a floating platform for the tower in 2003. This is used in class instruction and students conduct measurements along it. Greg Winston helped Ed with the building and installation. Power logistics were a chore but we got it running! Could anyone ask for a more exciting job? |
