Mesocycline
•The
rotating updraft, also called the mesocyclone, is located on the southwest
side of the storm and typically ranges from about 5 to 10
km in diameter, and tilts northeastward with altitude.
•The top of the mesocyclone
is called the overshooting top.
•The
base of the mesocyclone is rain free, because precipitation is carried away by
the strong updraft.
